Moments of Gold: Shining Light on Families Facing Pediatric Cancer in Utah

This sweet boy & family truly touched my heart in so many ways. I was so honored to be chosen to do a family session for them as their son McKay was placed on hospice after fighting cancer for 10 of his 13 years of life. Sadly, McKay passed a few weeks after this session. But the effect that him and his family had on me in that small interaction I had with them- won't fade any time soon. That being said, in honor of McKay I went seeking out ways that I can help provide memories to other families that find themselves in the same heart breaking situation as the Hansen's. I applied and was accepted to the Gold Hope Project.

The Gold Hope Project was created to raise awareness of childhood cancer. We accomplish this by reaching out to families who have children fighting cancer, capturing beautiful moments for them and sharing their inspiring stories and images with the world. The organization is comprised of an international network of professional photographers who donate their time and talent to provide quality portraiture to families fighting or that have fought pediatric cancer.

If you know of a family that is facing a cancer diagnosis with their child, please encourage their parent or guardian go to our webpage and apply. The family will receive an acceptance letter, and the option to choose their own photographer or have one assigned. Once the fighter/family and photographer are matched, the session will be scheduled accordingly. Sessions are completely free, and include a minimum of 10 high quality digital images. There are photographer's part of this program all over the country ready to help you capture those pressure moments! If you apply on the website, I am an available option for families of Utah Pediatric Cancer families, I’d love to work with you and your loved ones!
